Students have their teachers, soldiers rely on their generals, and apprentices learn from their masters. In The Voice of the Philippines, this kind of relationship is achieved through the brave and talented mentees and their astounding world class coaches who are four big names in both the local and international music arena. Dubbed as "the best of the best," the coaching committee of the show is composed of "Rock Superstar" Bamboo Mañalac, "Popstar Royalty" Sarah Geronimo, "Broadway Diva" Lea Salonga, and "International Hiphop Sensation" apl.de.ap. The panel is a perfect representation of the different genres of music. Prior to the release of official teasers and announcements, various speculations on who will be the coaches appeared and a number of names surfaced from the bottom of the sea of curiousity. Nina, Jay Durias, Regine Velasquez, Christian Bautista, Jed Madela, and Bruno Mars were just few of the names on the list of wild guesses. But the month of February and March ended the guessing game when a series of teasers and promotional plugs appeared on television. On February 6, 2013, the "Popstar Princess" Sarah G. was confirmed as the first coach via an official teaser where she was called as "The Voice that Captured our Hearts." Her inclusion on the program triggered the closing of her weekly variety show Sarah G. Live. Her confirmation was followed by rock idol Bamboo whose "The Voice that Rocked our World" promotional plug was aired on Valentines Day, February 14, 2013. But before the release of his official teaser, Bamboo already hinted his stint on the franchise during the last episode of Sarah G. Live where he made some remarks relating to a future project that involved him and the popstar princess. Next persona revealed was one of broadway's prized gems and Tony awardee, Lea Salonga. Initially, she was rumored to have been tapped as the main host of the show but such speculation was disproved when Toni Gonzaga was confirmed to do the hosting of the program. A bold Lea confirmed her involvement on the show as coach through her twitter account on the night of February 19, 2013. This confirmation occured even before the release of her promotional plug where she was labeled as "The Voice that Conquered the World." A long gap followed after the third coach was revealed since ABS-CBN and the management of Allan Pineda, much popularly known as apl.de.ap of the phenomenal pop group the Blackeyed Peas, were still at the final stages of the negotiation process. Eventually, it was decided as a sealed deal and on March 7, 2013, Apl was announced as the fourth coach via Push, ABS-CBN's entertainment website. His official promo plug was aired on March 27, 2013 which contained his "The Voice that Ruled the Worldwide Music Chart" title. Looking at the formidable coaching line-up of The Voice of the Philippines, we have just realized that it is truly possible to complete the puzzle of perfection.
